Belmont Academy is dedicated to providing a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment where children can explore and learn about the world around them. Our curriculum is an eclectic approach to early childhood education. We've taken what we believe are the best parts of many educational philosophies (Creative Curriculum, Montessori, and Emergent Curriculum) and created a curriculum that covers all areas of development including: social, emotional, cognitive, and physical. We facilitate emergent literacy through phonological awareness. The activities we plan for children, the way we organize the classroom, and our selection of themes and activities, are all designed to give your child a fun and successful start in school. It is our goal to help our children become enthusiastic learners, who are ready to become successful Kindergarten students. Most importantly, we want them to have fun!
With each child, we strive to reach specific goals in three areas of development: social/emotional growth, cognitive growth, and physical growth. Social/emotional goals for our children include experiencing a sense of self-esteem, exhibiting a positive attitude toward life, demonstrating cooperative, pro-social behavior, and gaining independence. Cognitively, we hope our children acquire learning and problem-solving skills, expand logical thinking skills, demonstrate skills in make believe play, and develop verbal, beginning writing skills, and beginning reading skills. Physically, we aim for children to enhance their gross motor skills, refine fine motor skills, and learn to use all five senses in learning.
