Before and After School Care: We have two 14 passenger busses that pick up at four of our local public schools. They are Richmond Elementary, Glencoe Elementary, Buckman Elementary, and Arthur Academy. Kindergartners through fifth graders may participate in our program. Belmont Academy opens at 8am for those students needing before school care, and we close at 6pm. We are open for Portland Public School's in-service days and all but the major holidays. We remain open for a large portion of Winter and Spring Breaks. Field trips are planned for both breaks.
Students join us in the afternoon for a snack, exercise on our playground or in our gym, art projects, games and homework assistance. On those days that students join us for the entire day there will be a morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack provided.
Summer Camp: During the Summer we hold an "Explorer's" day camp for school age children. It is a fun-filled summer for Kindergarten through fifth grade students. The program is geared for the working parents who want to know their children are having a fun and safe time while in the care of experienced staff. We usually take two mini busses with 28 children and three staff members.
Camp runs from the week after Portland Public School's last day of school to the week before Portland Public School's first day of school. We are open 8am to 6pm, but ask that campers arrive no later than 9am. Busses return by 3pm.
Campers leave in the morning for parks or other fun outdoor adventures. There are walks and hikes, swimming, arts and crafts, as well group meetings and activities.
We return mid-afternoon and campers are invited to relax, play indoor games or activities and participate in an art project. This is an opportunity to work on projects pertaining to the weekly themes.
*Sample weekly themes include: Art-A-Palooza, Foodtastic, Comic Makers, Myths and Legends, Secret Agents, Mad Science, and Nature Nuts.
